MISSION
STATEMENT
Our mission
statement is first and foremost, to entertain. We believe
in the "power of play" and we seek to use comedy
and fun to bring joy to people young and old. From the children
at one of our festivals to the most dignified executive at
our corporate events, we feel we have accomplished our primary
goal if people are smiling, laughing, and forgetting their
worries even if only for a short time. The way
we do this is by spreading and fostering the exciting and
relatively new theatrical discipline of Interactive Theater.
Our shows and events strive to involve and immerse the audience
in the environment we are seeking to portray, to make the
audience or guests part of the show and in doing this, involve
them in a more rich and memorable experience. We also
strive to encourage education and literacy by bringing to
life cherished literature and historical periods. We feel
that "planting the seed" is the most important thing,
and hope that people leave our events having learned something
new. Ideally, they will also leave with a newfound sense of
curiosity, adventure, and the joy of learning. For this reason,
we try to highlight many of the lesser known and fun bits
of historical fact.Lastly,
we hope to showcase talented performers. The Boston area is
home to many talented local actors, amazing variety performers,
musicians, artists, and local craftspeople. We have built
up an intimate and ever expanding roster, so our clients have
access to the most talented performers in the area, just by
calling us. We work closely with artisans who construct costumes
and props to order as well as all manner of performers. We
personally train all of our actors in the unique demands of
interactive theater.
WHAT
THEY ARE SAYING ABOUT PASTIMES
"Dear David, I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for your company's participation of the Renaissance Hotel's Gala Opening "Inspiration Revealed". As always, your troupe of actors delivered a class act performance truly deserving of a standing ovation. BRAVO! The drummers were a fun and funky addition as well and provided the perfect prelude to the final act of the World Premier Band. My sincere thanks again." --Sharon Brouillard, Event Director, Sullivan Custom Planning, August 2007
"Bravo!
You (David Stickney) and Pastimes were wonderful at the Gala
for Providence Place Mall. The guests loved all of you. You
couldn't have been more perfect." --Ruth Davis, Providence
Place Mall."You
and your variety of entertainers are truly the best around!
Not to mention you are all so easy to work with and the compliments
that I receive about everyone are abundant! THANK YOU DAVID!!
It is truly difficult to do a "Theme" party and
not have Pastimes involved. Your flexibility and creativeness
is such a gift, and you, David, are a true JOY to work with.
Thanks, once again, for making me look so good!" --Sharon
E. Sullivan, Sullivan Custom Planning, Inc."It
was a pleasure to work with Pastimes at Belcourt Castle this
past Saturday. You are a highly professional and dedicated
group of performers - not to mention being extremely responsive
to the needs of the guests during the event and staying flexible...
I enjoyed watching you both in action. David, you have great
presence and voice and did a marvelous job overseeing the
flow of events. Ryann, your calm, gracious manner is truly
regal. Thank you." --Harriet DiCicco, Perfect Surroundings
"Today
I took my two kids (6 & 7) to our first medieval faire at
Hammond Castle. The three of us had an incredible time! I
only wish I had them watch Robin Hood the movie the night
before so they were a bit more up on the characters and story.
Your people did an excellent job of portraying each of the
characters and the entertainers were just that, very entertaining.
I sat with my jaw dropped just as my kids did while I leaned
from Gustav and Marie about the swords. We also learned how
to fence and say "good day" in gypsy, not a typical
day to say the least. Great job all around!" ---Jay Fraser,
Danvers, MA
